We arrived just in time to watch the Horse of a Different Color Parade. Doll Baby waved to Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion, Scarecrow, Glinda, Flying Monkeys (on bikes), and more as they passed by.

Then we perused the vendor booths and purchased a Dorothy Dress made by Ruth Kirsch for Doll Baby.
We ended our visit in the kid zone at Thomas Centennial Park. There you could get your hair braided just like Dorothy for free, watch a look-a-like contest, listen to live music, and catch a puppet show by Stevens Puppets.
Bob Walls from Stevens Puppets and his marionettes were definitely the highlight for us. The show had everyone, young and old, captivated!

As Liz Lemon would say: "I want to go to there!"
ReplyDeleteI love 30 Rock!
DeleteI have to admit I have a {tiny} obsession with The Wizard of Oz, and I'm just a {little} jealous that your family got to enjoy this festival!!
ReplyDeleteNext year you should take your family to it!
DeleteO, neat!! I bet that was a blast!! We like to go to the Great Lakes Medieval Fair, but we didn't make it in time this year. Totally going next year though!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun. I might just have to take my family there next year too!
DeleteHow crazy we were both there! You got great photos as well! I'm sure we must have crossed paths - such a small world!
ReplyDeleteThat is so so cool! I would love to take my kids to something like that. They have yet to discover The Wizard of Oz yet -- blinded us they are by Harry's Patronus spell and overall cuteness :)
ReplyDeleteWhen is this normally? September?
ReplyDeleteYes, this is usually in mid-September every year.
DeleteWhat a fun festival! I had no idea there was a Wizard of Oz festival so close to Ohio! I'd love to see those flying monkeys. They always terrified me in the movie but on bicycles I don't think they would be so bad on bicycles.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to the Best of the USA blog hop!
Thanks for hosting the blog hop! Hope you can make it to the festival next year.
