Our latest adventure was the 31st Annual Wizard of Oz Festival in Chesterton, IN. This was the most memorable festival we have attended to date.

We arrived just in time to watch the Horse of a Different Color Parade. Doll Baby waved to Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion, Scarecrow, Glinda, Flying Monkeys (on bikes), and more as they passed by.

Then we perused the vendor booths and purchased a Dorothy Dress made by Ruth Kirsch for Doll Baby.

We ended our visit in the kid zone at Thomas Centennial Park. There you could get your hair braided just like Dorothy for free, watch a look-a-like contest, listen to live music, and catch a puppet show by Stevens Puppets

Bob Walls from Stevens Puppets and his marionettes were definitely the highlight for us. The show had everyone, young and old, captivated!

Were you at the festival too?! What was your favorite part?

  3. O, neat!! I bet that was a blast!! We like to go to the Great Lakes Medieval Fair, but we didn't make it in time this year. Totally going next year though!

  5. That is so so cool! I would love to take my kids to something like that. They have yet to discover The Wizard of Oz yet -- blinded us they are by Harry's Patronus spell and overall cuteness :)

  6. What a fun festival! I had no idea there was a Wizard of Oz festival so close to Ohio! I'd love to see those flying monkeys. They always terrified me in the movie but on bicycles I don't think they would be so bad on bicycles.

Thanks for linking up to the Best of the USA blog hop!
