Small Town Events | Buckley Homestead Fall Festival

We celebrated fall on the farm at the Buckley Homestead Fall Festival. Located in Lowell, IN, the event included traditional arts and crafts, hayrides, music, reenactors, and storytelling.

Our first stop was the candle dipping activity area. Doll Baby loved working with her daddy to create her new prized possession and carried it around for the rest of the day (along with the American flag she received at the Lowell Labor Day Parade).

Afterwards we took a hayride to explore the rest of the turn-of-the-century living history farm.

We arrived by the Pioneer Home area just in time for the Hubs to participate in a Sheep Toss competition. Everyone cheered each other on as the participants hurled a straw-filled burlap bag.
(Excuse the brief belly shot in the video below.)

A few minutes later a storm rolled in and we had to cut our visit short. Hopefully the weather will be better next year as we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the homestead.

The weather is based on how Chuck Norris is feeling.**
(Thought I would include another Chuck Norris quote since it was a hit from the Valparaiso Popcorn Festival post.)

I would love to try that candle dipping too. And how heavy was that bag...because he just tossed it like it was nothing! Chuck would be so proud! :)

I'm not sure how heavy it was - I'll have to ask the hubs.

So back in the day, did they actually toss the sheep? Seems like a good way to break a sheep's leg to me lol.
